More Wing Summoning (Version 2) I keep working on this one... I'm thinking it needs a background. And for me to figure out what to do with his arms. Project: Sanctuary Universe: Other Comments on this picture: 5 This image exists in multiple versions. See them all. Upload Date: 08/10/2008
Mother's Comfort, Close-up (Version 3) Close-up of the priestess's face. I used eleven different colors... I think. Might have been twelve? Project: Sanctuary Universe: Other Comments on this picture: 5 This image exists in multiple versions. See them all. Upload Date: 08/10/2008
Mother's Comfort, Crayoned (Version 2) And here's the mostly-finished piece. I didn't plan it at all, so I am chagrined at the big lack of balance/background in it, and the fact that I should have given the girl in the front a golden shirt instead of a blue one, but... hey, I used Crayola crayons that are over two decades old. -_- Project: Sanctuary Universe: Other Comments on this picture: 12 This image exists in multiple versions. Mother's Comfort, Sketch (Version 1) For my project using my ancient crayons, I wanted something really simple, and I didn't want to get too attached to the results in case it failed utterly... so I threw together this sketch of the "mother" of the elven orphans who banded together, the human priestess. She is comforting the youngest, who is somewhat uncomfortable about her role in the war. Which involved killing people, something she felt like she got into a little too much. Displacer Beast Huggles! (Version 1) My drow alchemist is messed up (what can I say, all drow are messed up), and not even working for the Dagny Taggart of drowdom has made him all better. I decided the best thing for him was to get him a pet.

From the Air Around Him (Version 1) I am moved to upload this one half-finished because it's changing so much as I work on it that I wonder if it will look anything like itself when I'm done. My lucky elven shapeshifter who is becoming a hawk here... by gathering the feathers out of the air around him, it seems. It's supposed to be masculine without being blocky/angular (there's a fun goal). There's something kind of art deco about the stylization right now that would be nice to keep as I keep going, but we'll see...! Packages from Home (Version 1) You know, this started out as a particular person, and then her face turned out much sweeter and the background changed and... pretty soon I had this feeling she was some college-aged girl receiving a box from her parents, so I put lots of friendly animals around her and gave her her parents' old Captain's desk and then hung a family portrait above it and a scroll illustrating her creation myths and... well, I like it a lot more than what I originally planned...! Mortar and Pestle (Version 1) A male Jokkad grinding herbs. I had no idea how I wanted to pose this or what he was doing, and this idea was the nicest of all the ones I erased, so... he looks well off. Ragna the Court Scribe (Version 1) Ragna was a court scribe before she ran into Angharad, so I thought, while drawing her sleeping, that I'd revisit her old job. Except she's smiling, and I don't fancy she smiled much during that period of her life. Mysterious! Shadesong the Anthropologist (Version 1) A gift for Shadesong to help her with her charity drive, of herself (a half kitsune/half snow leopard) examining alien objects. Quickly colored! But fun to color. Project: Translations, Trades, Gifts and Commissions Universe: Other Comments on this picture: 8 |
(#9308) On 08/18/2008, LaffingKat said this about Displacer Beast Huggles!: Oh, that is adorable, and too funny. (#9305) On 08/18/2008, Deyaniera said this about Hurricane Watch, Complete: Wow. I adore this. (#9304) On 08/18/2008, Stoker Bramwell said this about Hurricane Watch, Complete: Your description is every bit as emotionally moving as the image itself. It's rare, you know, to come across an artist who is good with both paint and words. (#9303) On 08/18/2008, Archangel Beth said this about Hurricane Watch, Complete: Oo. is pretty. also reminds me of the horrible headache I have right now. *chuckles painfully* (#9302) On 08/18/2008, Ysabet said this about Angel Apparel: The concept with the vest and blouse should work, and the picture looks good overall. My main quibble is that the wing bases look too narrow; on a bird, the flight feathers would extend from shoulders to hips. I suppose angels don't really fly by air movement, but it still looks odd to me. (#9301) On 08/17/2008, inu said this about Vasiht'h with Children: aww, the little one looks so nervous. shes adorable with the big ears and eyes. i like these vasiht'h father-figure pictures. (#9300) On 08/16/2008, inu said this about Vrakael's Wings: ive always liked the idea of ethereal wings. very fitting for an angel. love the swirliness and different colors. the anatomy looks fine to me. (#9298) On 08/15/2008, Ysabet said this about "You're a shapechanger . . . aren't you?": I love the symbolism in this one, how the others are looking at her but she's not looking at them, and the cougar is positioned above her head. |

Very powerful. Yes, huddled together against nature.
